NewSysRS Requirements for Jira User Manual

Welcome to NewSysRS Requirements for Jira, a requirements management app that runs directly inside your Jira instance. This manual walks you through everything you need to get started and make the most of the app.

What is NewSysRS Requirements for Jira?

NewSysRS Requirements for Jira brings structured requirements management into Jira — without leaving the tools your team already uses. You can organise requirements into specification documents, run formal reviews, visualise coverage, and trace requirements from high-level business needs all the way down to test cases.

Everything is built around your existing Jira issues. Requirements are real Jira issues — they have keys, statuses, assignees, and custom fields — but NewSysRS Requirements for Jira adds structure on top: hierarchical ordering, specification documents, folders, snapshots, and cross-project traceability.

Tabs Within Modules

The Reviews, Coverage, and Traceability sections all use a tab layout. When you open a review, a coverage matrix, or a traceability report, it appears as a new tab — so you can have several items open at once. Tabs stay open if you refresh the page. To close a tab, click the x on the tab label.

Before You Begin

⚠️ Important: Before using any part of the app, a project administrator must configure the Specification and Requirement settings for your project. Without this minimum configuration, the app cannot create or display requirements correctly. See Page 2: Setting Up the App for full instructions.
